  • Integrate communication science with public health science to achieve excellence in how we engage, collaborate and impact our communities
  • Broaden community outreach, digital presence, and low-barrier engagement opportunities to meet people where they are, prioritizing the local needs of diverse communities across Algoma

OUR PRACTICE: Strengthening our Performance, Measuring Impact, Sharing Stories

We will focus on core public health functions to have the greatest positive impact on community health and health inequities; we will show this through measurement and sharing stories.

We will:

  • Align resources and decision-making with priority needs and evidence to strengthen our impact
  • Enhance our core public health capacity and competencies to achieve excellence in public health practice
  • Build shared understanding of APH work by strengthening measurement and sharing our stories, to demonstrate impact

OUR TEAM: Fostering a Foundation for Success

We will invest in our workforce as the foundation for delivering our mission, creating a culture of effective collaboration, excellence, and continuous learning that enhances our capacity and resilience

We will:

  • Create a strong organizational foundation that promotes a culture of excellence, effective collaboration, and continuous learning to enable our people to thrive
  • Cultivate a valued and resilient workforce by investing in staff development, wellbeing, and competencies to amplify our community impact

OUR APPROACH: Focusing on Upstream Pathways

We will advance upstream approaches to population health through a health equity lens that strives to improve systemic and social conditions for better health outcomes across Algoma.

We will:

  • Build our capacity to strengthen community action, create supportive environments, and promote local healthy public policy with community partners
