Temporary part-time

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Community Rehabilitation Worker is responsible for providing community housing outreach, support and direct assistance to individuals suffering from addiction and mental health issues and/or who are homeless and/or at risk of homelessness.

 

Qualifications:

 

Ability, experience, and skills for this position include (but not limited to):

  • Minimum two (2) year post-secondary diploma in social services or in a health related field
  • Minimum (2) years direct service experience in community housing and/or mental health and addictions
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community resources and organizations
  • Demonstrated understanding of the housing first model, concurrent disorders, homelessness, harm reduction and recovery principles
  • Demonstrated knowledge of psychosocial rehabilitation work
  • Strong interest in professional development and self-learning
  • Strong time management and project management skills
  • Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be reliable and have a good attendance record
  • Ability to work outside regular business hours, including weekends and evenings with regular hours of work between 11am-7pm
  • Duties will include travelling to various locations within city of SSM to provide services
  • Oral and written proficiency in both official languages is an asset
  • Requires a valid “G” Ontario Driver’s Licence and use of a reliable vehicle
  • A current Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) with satisfactory clearance is a condition of employment, at own expense
