Disease and Illness

 

Infectious diseases are caused by microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses, parasites or fungi.  These diseases can be spread from person to person, from animals/insects to humans, from contaminated food or water, or exposure from the environment.

 

Algoma Public Health provides services to help prevent and control or minimize infectious diseases. APH services include: immunizations, counseling, responding to reports of communicable diseases within our community, education, and animal bite reporting.
