Tobacco
Commercial Tobacco can come in many forms including cigarettes, spit tobacco, cigarillos, snus, cigars, pipe tobacco and shisha.
Tobacco smoke contains more that 7,000 chemicals, including hundreds that are toxic and around 70 that can cause cancer. Spit tobacco has over 3,000 chemicals, including 28 known carcinogens. Spit tobacco is not a safe substitute for cigarettes. Approximately 9,800 new cases of cancer diagnosed in Ontario during 2009 are estimated to be attributed to tobacco smoking, specifically to cigarettes. There are over a quarter of a million deaths each year globally due to smoke-less tobacco use. Commercial Tobacco: We can live without it.
