Algoma residents invited to help shape the future of public health

Mon, Feb 09, 2026

Starting today, Algoma Public Health (APH) is inviting residents who live and work in Algoma to share their perspectives through a short, anonymous online survey that will help guide the organization’s priorities over the next several years.

The survey takes about 5-10 minutes to complete and is open until 4:30 p.m. on February 20, 2026. It is anonymous and voluntary. As a thank you, participants can choose to enter a draw for a chance to win a $50 gift card after completing the survey. Contact information for the draw is collected separately and is not linked to survey responses.

Community members can take the survey online at: https://ca.mar.medallia.com/APHSurvey

Public health plays an important role in everyday life. While hospitals care for people when they are sick, public health works to keep entire communities healthy by protecting people from health risks, helping people stay healthy, and preventing illness before it starts.

Community input will help shape decisions about programs and services that support families, youth, seniors, and neighbourhoods across Algoma — from health monitoring and community prevention partnerships to emergency preparedness and outbreak control.

“Community voices are essential to shaping the work we do,” said Dr. Jennifer Loo, Medical Officer of Health and CEO of Algoma Public Health. “Hearing directly from residents across our district helps ensure our priorities reflect the real experiences, needs, and strengths of the people and communities we serve.”

To request accessibility support to complete the survey, contact: communications@algomapublichealth.com or call 705-942-4646.
