Algoma Public Health is calling on residents to nominate local citizens and organizations in Algoma for the 2023 Public Health Champion Award.
The call for nominations for the 2023 Public Health Champion closes on January 10, 2024, and winners will be presented at the January 24, 2024 Board of Health meeting.
A Public Health Champion is anyone who helps to protect and promote community health and advance health equity in Algoma, whether through leading, collaborating, innovating, or fostering opportunities for health for all, together.
For example, A Public Health Champion might be an individual or organization that:
- Makes a difference by working with local government to make positive changes in the community.
- Brings together community partners to work together to improve the overall health of the population in Algoma.
- Empowers groups within the community and helps build equal opportunities for priority populations to attain their full health potential.

- Download a fillable PDF. Complete it and submit it electronically by emailing: communications@algomapublichealth.com
- Download a nomination sheet (PDF) and mail it in OR, drop off at one of the district offices in Wawa, Elliot Lake or Blind River.
To be eligible for nomination, the individual or group of individuals, organization, employer, or employee must reside in the district of Algoma Health Unit.
