Update on the COVID-19 pandemic

Thu, Apr 27, 2023

The Algoma district is seeing a number of positive signs in different pandemic indicators.

  • Our rate of high-risk cases are at their lowest since the start of the omicron wave and there are no COVID-19 outbreaks in any high-risk settings at the current moment.
  • Our wastewater signal is also significantly lower than it was earlier in the respiratory illness season.
  • Overall, the current risks of COVID-19 to the community are significantly lower than before, which is in keeping with seasonal respiratory illness patterns.

Residents of Algoma can continue to help keep community cases low and reduce their personal risk through a number of ways.

  • Consider masking in public settings that are crowded, closed spaces, or require close contact.
  • Stay up-to-date with COVID vaccination is another important protective measure. If you are unsure if you are in need of a booster, you can find out here.
  • Stay home if you are sick to help limit the spread of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases.
