Salary Range $47,210.80 - $50,341.20

 

The Family Support Worker (FSW) is a member of the Healthy Growth and Development team which is responsible for the delivery of the Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program as mandated by the Ontario Public Health Program Standards. Working with a multi-disciplinary team, the FSW works in collaboration with Public Health Nurses, community partners and families. Some of the areas the FSW will support include: developing parenting skills and knowledge, assisting families with accessing community resources and services, and working together to meet the identified family goals.                                                                                                                                                                        

Qualifications, Experience, and Public Health Nurse Skills for this position include but not limited to:

  • Grade 12 diploma; post-secondary education in early childhood development/education, social work or related field is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of strategies that support families in developing positive attachment and parenting skills.
  • Experience working with infants, children, youth and families
  • Extensive knowledge. skills and ability to navigate and link clients to community resources and organizations.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with diverse individuals, families, health and social services professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and  as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Use of a reliable automobile and valid “G” Ontario Driver’s Licence with excellent driving experience, required. Travel across the Algoma District is a requirement.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office suite and an ability to learn new computer programs is essential.
  • Advanced oral and written proficiency in English is essential.  Proficiency in both official languages, as well as knowledge of additional languages relevant to our diverse communities, will be considered an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be prompt, reliable and maintain a good attendance record.
  • Ability to work outside regular business hours, including weekends and evenings, as required.
  • As a condition of hire, you are required to be fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine series, per our COVID-19 Immunization policy, unless medically contraindicated. Should you be the successful candidate, you will be required to comply with our COVID-19 Immunization policy that is in effect.
  • A current Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) with satisfactory clearance is a condition of employment, at own expense.
