Dedicated COVID-19 vaccine appointments for long term care and retirement home, congregate living, child care and education sectors

Thu, Jan 06, 2022

In alignment with provincial actions to accelerate COVID-19 immunization, Algoma Public Health and community partners are maintaining access to timely COVID-19 immunization for those working in long term care and retirement homes, congregate living settings, child care, and education.

Over 3700 additional vaccine appointments are being made available in January across the Algoma district for both members of these groups, and for eligible Algoma residents who are aged 30+.

Dedicated appointments for individuals working in these sectors and eligible residents include:

  • January 11th, 2022 at GFL, Sault Ste. Marie
  • January 14th, 2022 at Blind River Community Centre, Blind River
  • January 19th, 2022 at the Michipicoten Memorial Community Centre, Wawa

The Elliot Lake Family Health team will also be offering additional appointments.

At this time, based on vaccine supply, all additional clinics will be offering Moderna only to those aged 30 and older. Individuals are eligible for a 3rd dose when at least 84 days (3 months) have passed since their second dose.

All eligible workers who care for and work with our vulnerable populations are strongly encouraged to receive a third dose of COVID-19 vaccine as soon as eligible to protect themselves and others against COVID-19 and the highly transmissible Omicron variant of concern, especially during the current surge in Ontario.
