Algoma Public Health is reporting forty-one (41) new cases of COVID-19 (#1,657 - #1,697)

PLEASE NOTE: We will not be reporting cases over the holiday weekend

 

We are reporting forty-one (41) new cases of COVID-19 (#1,657 - #1,697):

  • 36 - Sault Ste. Marie & Area
  • 5- Central and East Algoma

 

The newly reported cases acquired their infection as follows:

  • 3 - close contact of a confirmed case
  • 3 - unknown source of infection
  • 35 - under investigation

There are currently 248 active cases.

 

Additional Information Regarding Omicron:

Although the Omicron variant has not yet been confirmed in Algoma, a number of current exposures are suspected and presumed to be due to this variant of concern, due to initial lab screening results, a history of travel, or links to known Omicron exposures in other areas of the province.

  • Algoma regions with COVID-19 cases reported in the past 14 days include:

o  Sault Ste. Marie and area

o  Central and East Algoma

o  Elliot Lake and area
