We are launching the next edition of our Public Health Champion recognition, focusing on individuals and organizations that support healthy child development in the earliest years of life (ages 0–6). By highlighting those who help infants, children and families across Algoma grow, play, and thrive, this reinforces APH’s commitment to supporting lifelong health through early development.

WHO CAN BE A CHAMPION:

Public Health Champions for the early years are:

  • Advocates for healthy starts. Inspiring growth and development, active play, social connection, and inclusive spaces that nurture attachment and confidence for caregivers.

  • Connectors of families and communities. Bringing parents, caregivers, and children together to learn, share, and grow - building healthier families and connected communities.

  • Equity builders. Creating supportive spaces where every family belongs and every young child has opportunities to thrive.

It’s time to nominate the local heroes and organizations that you believe deserve the 2025 Public Health Champion Award

For 2025, we would like to honor four (4) categories of Public Health Champions.

Call for nominations end: January 21, 2026 @ 12 PM EST

Award winners will be presented at the February 25, 2026 Board of Health meeting.

A panel of Algoma Public Health Board Members, the Medical Officer of Health, the Associate Medical Officer of Health, and APH staff will review all nominations.
