Vaccines and Immunization
Information is available for parents or guardians who received a letter from APH about updating student immunizations.
Vaccines are one of the most effective ways to protect yourself, your family and your community against disease. Vaccines can also be called immunizations, needles or shots. They work best when people receive them at the appropriate ages. Talk to your health care provider about what vaccines you or your family may need.
Learn more about the immunizations recommended for each stage of life.
Algoma Public Health offers immunization to:
- Those who do not have a healthcare provider
- Children who require immunizations for school and child-care attendance
- Students who are at risk for suspension from school (have received suspension notice) and are not able to get vaccinated by another health care provider
- High-risk or underserved populations
- Algoma Public Health may offer special clinics to those at risk during a community outbreak
NOTE: If you do not have a health card, please call to speak with a nurse about immunization at APH. Our clinics operate by appointment only to ensure you receive timely, personalized care. Each person receiving a vaccine must have their own individual appointment. This helps us prepare properly and reduce your wait time.
