OUR COMMUNITY: Creating Meaningful Connection

We will strengthen our trusted presence and increase our recognition across Algoma communities through relationship building, community engagement, and collaborative action.

We will:

Strengthen collaborative relationships with all municipalities and Indigenous communities to advance shared priorities and upstream public health opportunities

Integrate communication science with public health science to achieve excellence in how we engage, collaborate and impact our communities

Broaden community outreach, digital presence, and low-barrier engagement opportunities to meet people where they are, prioritizing the local needs of diverse communities across Algoma


OUR PRACTICE: Strengthening our Performance, Measuring Impact, Sharing Stories

We will focus on core public health functions to have the greatest positive impact on community health and health inequities; we will show this through measurement and sharing stories.

We will:

Align resources and decision-making with priority needs and evidence to strengthen our impact

Enhance our core public health capacity and competencies to achieve excellence in public health practice

Build shared understanding of APH work by strengthening measurement and sharing our stories, to demonstrate impact

We will advance upstream approaches to population health through a health equity lens that strives to improve systemic and social conditions for better health outcomes across Algoma.

We will:

Build our capacity to strengthen community action, create supportive environments, and promote local healthy public policy with community partners

Work at the systems level to better support people facing health inequities
