Nurturing Algoma
Are you interested in learning about how your child is developing? Celebrate your child’s growth and developmental milestones using the Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQs). The Ages and Stages Questionnaires (ASQ-3 and ASQ-SE:2) are screening tools used to assess and monitor a child’s development in areas such as communication, motor skills, social-emotional, and cognition. Benefits to ASQ screening include optimizing your child’s potential by identifying your child’s strengths and finding out early if there are any areas where they could use extra support.
In partnership with Queen’s University, the Infant and Early Mental Health Promotion (IEMHP) team at Toronto’s SickKids has developed Canada’s first National Database of pre-school child development called, The Canadian Database of Development, Infancy to Six (CanDDIS).
In Algoma, we are working with the team at SickKids to learn more about how our youngest children are developing by inviting families with children ages 0 - 6 to complete an ASQ screen for their child to anonymously include in the database.
