Food Safety
Algoma Public Health's Environmental Health Department is responsible for the Food Safety Program, which is designed to protect the public through educational and enforcement strategies.
Public health Inspectors are responsible for carrying out the Food Safety Program. This program involves:
- Assessing and inspecting all food premises to ensure compliance with Ontario Regulation 493/17 under the Health Protection and Promotion Act.
- Provide Safe Food Handler Training
- Complete food recalls
- Food Permit Application

Before you go out to eat, check out the restaurant's Inspection Results.
Public Health Inspectors will respond to food safety complaints of facilities within the Algoma district.
